I'm of two minds about this (much as I am about everything). While I celebrate the addition of content and more ways to flesh out characters, I am concerned that this might be the death of the underplayed archetypes.

Under played what?

There are a few specific power sets that don't. On Hero side.

A kinetic or Force Field defender are rare, almost non-existent.

All forms of Scrappers are played. All the Tankers are played. All the Blasters are played and all of the Controllers are played.

I'm not too sure about the Villain side.

Villain side everything is played. Like.. Everything. You will rarley see an Energy Defense Brute but I think that's about it. I don't think we'll see the death of any AT's, because as long as there are people who play by theme and character, there will always be that archetype.

I do fear that villian archetypes will be underplayed, but i will personally play villians more than heroes since i find those classes much more interesting...and i've had over 3 years worth of the others lol.

And yes as of right now, i do have plans to play this....

I think more Hero ATs are going to be underplayed. Nothing vanished but.
Corrupters, Domis, Brutes, MMs, Stalkers, all very highly played and effective in PvE and PvP, so it's going to be a fine mix of everything.

I think CoX will be a fine mix of things as Twiggy said. But I also believe that they devs will find a way to create power customization in the mix. Which I believe was an idea they have been working with.

The video hints at power customization. It would be a big thorn in CO's side as well, as of now we can only hope.

Problems I foresee (though remain hopeful despite of):

1. Villain ATs (i.e. Brutes) Being completely subverted by more successful hero ATs.

2. A completely lacking villain-side community.

Stuff that makes me giggle:

1. True power proliferation ( both sides get everything!)

2. Heroes with Patrons? Villains with Epics? The possibilities!

Falcon, you and I both know that Brutes are just glorified scrappers, so when someone wants an Energy Melee scrapper they know what to do now

Brutes will be fine, I see where your coming from but your example was.. Brutes? Brutes fucking rock lol, people will play them endlessly, the best example will probably be Defenders.

Defenders have the best support numbers in game, whereas Brutes are, in my opinion, a two-secondaries AT.
Also, I loathe to think of what this will do to PvP. Sad

Does Brute Fury actually work in PvP yet? Brutes and Scrappers are the two ATs I never see. Also, Villains scored high on PvE/PvP ratings because they're designed to solo. If you did one of each hero AT vs. one of each villain AT, the heroes would have much better team synergy. Not to say that means they'd win. Still, I'm looking forward to this. I want to make my MM a hero, since he was never really a villain to begin with. Although, at the same time, I always felt MMs were the one unique thing villains kept to themselves, but it's now going to the other side... *sigh*. At least villains get empathy.

Also, note that the two new protagonists have pistols and demon summoning, two long-time requested sets. I foresee their addition.

I'm actually seeing ALOT of scrappers now in SC and RV. But your right, brutes are still pretty rare. :/

Dude, RV is always fucking swamped by Scrappers. Anyways when you guys are talking about scarcity here, keep in mind you're talking about the PvP community you see them in, which is, what, 2% of the game community? Razz

Pistols I could care less. Pistols sounds trashy IMO, and I'm guessing they'd be heavily based off of Gunslingers, cause they're the only pistol-totin' jackasses worth fearing. And Gunslingers with a Blaster secondary and Defiance is definitely OP.

But I'm a MM at heart, so the idea of Demon summons gets me psyched. Cause let's face it. MM primaries is the one most lacking set.

I an stoked about this idea, but I have this little part of me that says this might only be hype. That cynic in me says that there may be no actual mingling of worlds, just a place where villains co-mingle in an alternate dimension, like Outlands from WoW. basically a hub world for "evil" (Tyrant's city) and "good" (Whatever Good Recluse is called)). I don't think they'll let Masterminds hang around under the Atlas Statue and complain about n00bs and how AE is unbalancing the game. I hate to be a pessimist, but this is the scenario I am afraid of.
